New Year's Houskeeping
Here are a few gentle reminders for the New Year! LECTOR: please arrive at Mass at least 15 minutes early to review your readings, the Prayers of the Faithful and Announcements. If you cannot pronounce a person’s name on the Prayers of the Faithful, please check with another parishioner before Mass to insure you are pronouncing the name correctly. Continuity of the Mass flow is an important part of our Liturgy and leads to a distraction to some folks if you are not fully prepared. If you are the first lector, it is very important that you are aware of any announcements before Mass starts, i.e., second collection announcements and what the collection is for. USHERS: please be sure to check if there is a second collection so you are prepared to handle two collections. Second collections are always in the Bulletin the week before and announced over the e-alert system a few days before the weekend. Also check the Announcements to verify the collection. COMMITTEE/COMMISSION CHAIRS: Less and less information about special events at each Parish are being forwarded to the Parish Office for inclusion in the Bulletin. We are 2 churches under one umbrella and many times we attend Mass at each other’s Church – the question then comes to the office – “why didn’t we know about it?” Coming together in fellowship and sharing events at both parishes is an important part of who we are. If you forward your information to the office it will appear in the bulletin plus on e-alerts informing everyone and, by the way, there is no extra charge for this service! Seriously, let’s make a serious effort to provide the parish office with events happening for the benefit of all.
